Holiday Season

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. We spent a nice quite day home with 2 of our 3 boys. Chris lives in Conniticut and couldn't join us this year and we really missed him. I think it was the first time he hasn't been home for the holiday. Everyone enjoyed their gifts and I made a bit of a different dinner this year. Instead of potatos we had homemade Mac 'n Cheese (Danny, my oldest, isn't a fan of scalloped potatos). I also made a raspberry, chocolate torte instead of my tradional yule log for dessert. Hubby liked it but prefers the yule log. Oh well every once in a while you have to try something new.

Heading down to my dad's for New Year. He turns 80 the week after New Years day so we are having his bash on New Year's Eve. That way my sister Kelley can be there. She is in combat training school and will be leaving Jan 2 to go back. In Feb off to Afghinstan for her. Again! :(.

Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!

Chilly

It is damp and chilly here today. It would have been a perfect day for sewing but I got all the decorations (except for the tree) up instead. Matt will have to get the tree down now that I have cleaned the carpets. My little puppy Leia has found a new way out of the yard and I had to go find her in the drizzle. The only way I got her back in the house is a school bus came down the street and scared her, she ran right for the open door of the garage. I have a really large feeling this dog is going to obedience training after the new year and now I have to find her new escape hatch.

I've been MIA for a bit

I went up to Wisconsin for the Thanksgiving week with included a visit to Chicago to see my brother in law and sister in law. Lizzie made a wonderful dinner and my sister Kelley came up from her training in Indiana to join us. Just before I left I had some trouble with my sewing machine. Took it to the shop and found out yesterday it would cost $150 to fix, 2 broken gears. I broke down and bought a new machine for $50 dollars more then the repair bill. Kinda sad though I have had the other machine for 29 years and really really loved it. Oh well, spent the afternoon learning how to use some of the features and will now be able to get back to sewing :)
