My sewing room

It's taking shape, we have the furniture rearranged, a lot of junk moved out and it looks way way better :). I think I may actually get to sew in there Friday. Just a few more things to do for part one of the project. The next challenge is the closet. I had to put up a new top shelf and brackets last fall and decided to use the set that allows you to add things to help organize your closets. I am going next week or the week after and get the wire style drawers that you can use and put all my yarn in there. I really need to weed out what I'm never every going to work wit and just give it away to the Goodwill, like the ton of 20 year old cross stitch magazines that are in my car at this moment going to the same place. When I am all do I'll will post pictures so you all can see. I didn't do a before for the room but will be sure to do that for the closet.

Hopefully tomorrow will be the day I get to set up my sewing room the way I have wanted to for a while now. I have to move some furniture around to make the spaces work a bit better. I am going to put my sewing machine in front of the window to get the light that comes in. I was reading a book about how to organise your sewing space and is was based on the same principle as kitchens are set up. Make a triangle from cutting to sewing to pressing, just like your kitchen fridge to counter to stove and back. I don't have a dedicated cutting area but I bet I can get the sewing and pressing pretty well situated.

I got my mannequin in the mail the other day but I have had to work the past 3 days so I haven't had time to set it up and take new pictures of the items I want to put up for sale on my ETSY account. I will also post pictures here and a link to them when I get it all done up. I have several days off from work and no one at home to stop me from getting alot of sewing done if I want. Now to just get motivated to do it plus spend less time messing around on the computer and more time doing what I really need to get done.

It is way to hot here today. I was going to go outside and do some much needed weeding in my gardens but NOT. It is noon and it is 91 but feels like 102. I did stuff around the house instead. Trying to get caught up on my laundry. I made a cute little pillowcase dress the other day for my grandniece. I'm getting stuff ready to update my Etsy account and wanted to practice making one before I tried making some to sell. If I had a few granddaughters of my own they would all have the cutest clothes on the planet :). Oh well I keep hoping.

Busy Day today

It was a very busy day at work today. It was freight day and I had a lot of stuff to put away. Did get to ogle some of the new christmas fabric we have. I am also getting an extra day off from work this week so maybe tomorrow after everyone is gone I can take a look in my sewing room and see if I can work in there for awhile. My sister is staying for a week and she had her stuff all over the place this morning and I couldn't move from the door to the wall with out tripping over one of her bags or boxes. I maybe getting old but I really had this kind of disruption in my life.

My other sister left this afternoon for a 2 year tour in Germany. I am sure before all is said and done she will be deployed again for 6 months to either Iraq or Afghanistan. She has already done a deployement to each place. Idon't like the thought of her having to do that again but it isn't up to me. I'll just pray really hard for her when she goes.

Night all time to soak in the tub.

I've been bad and neglected my blog for a few days. I have been busy with work and home. Had a 3 day weekend and didn't get anywhere near my sewing room:( Did manage to break and TV though. We got an HDTV for Christmas and it was set up in the spare room. I decided to move it into the living room where everyone could enjoy it. In the process of moving the old TV out it fell off the stand we had put it on to disconnect everything. We moved it to our bedroom and it worked at first but the next day when we tried to use it no go. Turns out the little thing you hook the cable too broke off. Oh well I only paid $120 for it at a WalMart sidewalk sale 6 years ago, it would probably have cost more then that to get it fixed. So now we have 2 HDTV, a bigger one in the living room and a small one in the bedroom. DH had oldest DS come over to make sure we hooked everything up right. That required a few new cables to correct but now we can use the surround or not as our moods strikes.

I don't have to work until 4 pm tomorrow so I'm thinking that after I get my bit of yard work and housework done I'm gonna hit my sewing room. I have a couple of projects in the works I'd like to get done. I'm also going to slowly reorganized the room so it is more user friendly and way neater. I guess it is true some creative people are just not the neatest creatures on the planet:)
